Guatemala produces some of the most approachable single origin coffees in the world. Where Ethiopian coffees tend toward the bright and adventurous, a good Guatemalan cup is balanced — fruit-forward without being wild, sweet without being heavy.
Panela is unrefined cane sugar, and that’s exactly the kind of sweetness you’ll find here. It’s not added. It’s just the coffee. The chocolate note comes through especially well as the cup cools — worth letting it sit for a minute before you reach for the first sip.
The mellow character and balanced acidity make this one a great starting point if you’re new to single origin coffees, and a reliable daily driver if you’re not. It plays well with most brew methods — pour over, auto drip, or French press all work nicely.
